August 23, 2018

We seem to need the pressure of weekly publishing to make sure we update this site so we are going to bring back our weekly round ups! We managed to get 6 out at the start of the year before they ground to a halt.  So here’s the long awaited issue 7 of the Boot Room Weekly Round Up – enjoy, share, like, comment etc!

New boot of the week: adidas Predator Accelerator

This is more of a remake than a new boot as such but there could only be one boot as this weeks new boot of the week…the remastered 1998 adidas Predator Accelerator

Vintage boot of the week: no entry this week – maybe next time 😉

Vintage shirt of the week –  adidas Anderlecht shirt 1990-1992

The purple and the stylised G logo of sponsor Generale Bank makes this instantly recognisable from quite some distance as an Anderlecht shirt to those of us of a certain age bracket. The one thing that’s always bothered us though is that the adidas trefoil logo sits over the heart and not the club badge…

Bargain of the week – adidas Predator 18.1 FG UK 6-11 – Was £200 NOW £75

With a saving of 62.5% these adidas Predator 18.1 FG boots represent stunning value for money. Lovell Soccer still have a good size run available. If you’re not keen on this colourway or want the SG version then Lovell Soccer have reduced many of them also (adults from £80 and kids from £40)

Video of the week – Nike Park Life ad

Not quite sure how or why but somehow Nike’s classic ‘Park Life’ ad showed up on one of recent visits to YouTube… definitely brought back some Sunday League memories for us. Enjoy!

Image of the week:

This cropped up on our Twitter timeline courtesy of Dan Mobbs (  and it’s just stunning. We’ve seen some interesting and varied team group pictures in the past but never have we seen one like this! 12 players perched on the crossbar, a mish mash of shorts and socks and 4 people hidden in the background!

It turns out this this is the Estudiantes de La Plata (Argentina)  team group from 1960! (courtesy of @Camiseta_Pincha

eBay finds of the week

A seller on ebay has a number of vintage prints of cartoon depicting various clubs nicknames. Some of the nicknames are a little unfamiliar now – we never knew that Colchester United were known as The Oysters, Reading were The Biscuit Makers and not Royals, and that Coventry City were The Bantams!

Just look at the typeface! Plus you know this is full of classic players, kits and boots…

Pick-ups of the week

  • We’ve taken full advantage of the HallyInk up to 50% off sale here at The Boot Room. We’ve ordered loads more pin badges, a couple of mugs and even a print or 2! Head straight over to HallyInk to save up to 50% on all items across the store

  • Vintage 1994 J League mascot handkerchief

Not 100% sure what we’re going to do with this but saw and just had to get it! Might frame it…

This weeks other worthy mentions:

  • If you’re not already following Bands FC on Twitter then you should be!
